The history of Team Alvarez is one of rapid growth, a dedication to achievement and the principle that people will be successful if they are equipped with the best tools, training and support. In August 2007 Gaston (Gus) Alvarez was recruited by Cornerstone America, a subsidiary of the Blackstone Group, the largest independent captive insurance agency in the nation headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
A few months later, Alvarez became licensed by the state of California to represent Life, Health and Accident insurance companies as an individual, independent insurance Broker-Agent and went to work as a captive insurance agent for Cornerstone America.
After a short two months in the field for Cornerstone America, Alvarez produced enough health insurance policies to earn himself the National Rookie of the Year Award and the second highest producing agent at Cornerstone Nationwide. In January of 2008, Alvarez was introduced to Care Assured Medicare Advantage products being offered by Cornerstone in Northern California.
During the Open Enrollment Period (January 1st, 2008 thru March 31st, 2008) Alvarez enrolled over 350 beneficiaries and became the highest producing Medicare Insurance agent in Cornerstone America history out of over 400 agents nationwide and won him the prestigious Ring of Honor and a seat in the Million Dollar Producers Circle.
After realizing all the good that could be done by helping seniors and the rewarding financial results, Alvarez decided to leave Cornerstone in January 2009 and venture into the Medicare business as an independent agent in California. Several of the top producers at Cornerstone followed Alvarez and together they contracted under another General Agency in Southern California representing multiple Medicare health plans.
After many promises from the new agency and a disappointing short time, Alvarez decided to approach MD Care Health Plan and try to contract directly. MD Care Health Plan decided that the Alvarez group had sufficient volume between a handful of agents and gave Alvarez his very first FMO (Field Marketing Organization) direct contract.
Shortly thereafter CareMore and Central Health Plans followed with FMO contracts. For the next few months Alvarez was approached by many agents wanting to join the Team and in August of 2009 Alvarez incorporated in California and Team Alvarez Insurance Services was born.
In the 2009 business year Team Alvarez Insurance Services became a prominent and distinguished Field Marketing Organization with a clear understanding of what agents wanting a career in Medicare Insurance needed, to enjoy a successful, growing and consistent business.
Alvarez continued to grow his recruits, but only by referral. New agents were interviewed and trained professionally in the field personally by Alvarez so they could confidently visit their appointments with the knowledge required to become profitable, and placing their clients and compliance at the forefront of all interactions.
The agency grew to over 60 agents in 2010 entering the Nevada and Arizona markets. All the while, Alvarez kept agents focused on the goal of putting client and compliance first. In 2011 Team Alvarez moved to a new 1,400 square foot office in Orange, California and incorporated a Call Center specializing in qualified agent appointment setting and Team Support.
Over the last few years Team Alvarez has grown to over 300 Agents and services over 20,000 Medicare Beneficiaries in California, Nevada and Arizona, specializing in a multi-cultural agent roster which includes African American, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Filipino and many other ethnicities. Furthermore, as part of our national growth Team Alvarez is positioned and licensed to expand into 40 more states.
The agency is now headquartered moved and grew into a 2,500 square foot office space in Santa Ana, California with over 35 Call Center cubicles to facilitate agent appointments and agent/producer support. The company maintains a full time in-house Medicare Compliance Officer, a complimentary agent/producer lead/mailer program, and a contract/licensing implementation program.
Today, Alvarez, the Founder of the company, puts all of his efforts in recruiting, personally hand picking Licensed Insurance Agents that value a carrier and keep the client, ethics and compliance at the forefront while continuing to train and support Team Members and new recruits personally.
Additionally, the President, Vice-President, Compliance Officer and Broker Relations Representative of the company are licensed, full time insurance agents continuing to work in the field. Team Alvarez Insurance Services understands clearly what an agent/producer wants and needs to be successful building their book of business.
Team Alvarez represents a multitude of national, highly rated Individual/Group Health, Life, Supplemental and Medicare Advantage Health Plans such as: Anthem, Aetna, AARP/United HealthCare, Blue Shield, Central Health, CareMore, Easy Choice, Humana, Scan, SilverScript, Stanford, Wellcare, North America, Transamerica, American General, and many more.
