Gus Alvarez started in the health insurance industry in August 2007 when he was recruited by Cornerstone America, a subsidiary of the Blackstone Group, one of the largest independent captive insurance agencies in the nation.

While Cornerstone propelled his career in the insurance industry and recognized him for his many achievements (the National Rookie of the Year Award for being the 2nd highest producer in the country; the prestigious Ring of Honor for becoming the highest-producing Medicare selling insurance agent; and a seat in the Million Dollar Producers Circle), Gus left Cornerstone to further explore the Medicare business as an independent agent in California.

Gus was joined by several top Cornerstone producers, and together they contracted under another general agency in California representing multiple health care plans.

The new venture wasn’t without its pitfalls. Let down by the new agency, Gus forged on and decided to approach MD Care health plan who gave them a chance and provided their first FMO contract. Gus’s Murrieta, California home became the staging ground for their small agency with training sessions being held in his living room. During those humble beginnings, Gus had agents sleeping over and training with him in the field.

They were fully operational with computers, fax machines and supplies set up in Gus’s garage with an open door to any agent who wanted to come and work.

CareMore and Central Health followed with FMO contracts. Soon, many agents came knocking at their doors wanting to join their new Team.

Their recruiting efforts, built through referrals, started to grow and in 2009 Team Alvarez Insurance Services in California was born.

Theresa and Gus moved to Hollywood Beach in Oxnard after their girls were born to be closer to their Grandparents.

They leased a 500 sq. ft. office and hired their first assistant. In spite of the long daily commute to LA and back they saw steady growth and their hard work soon paid off.

Within just 8 months they increased to 70 agents. Two years later in 2011, they moved to Orange County and leased a 1,500 sq. foot office in Orange. That move was the catalyst to the success they now are enjoying.

They grew rapidly, with the addition of new staff members and a fully integrated office.

They started a Call Center to handle appointment setting and Team Support for their agents.

Their success saw them moving two more times to accommodate their rapidly growing team.

Today, they are enjoying their new 8000 sq. ft. space in Santa Ana with over 35 staff, 30 in-house licensed telesales agents, and 15 customer service representatives.

They also maintain a full-time in-house Compliance Officer, an agent/producer lead/mailer program, contract/licensing implementation and a lifetime complimentary customer service program for all agents and their clients.

They are blessed to have a solid team that continues to help them grow.

As Team Alvarez continued their growth, they began to evaluate their company’s strengths and opportunities to improve.

They recognized the need to go above and beyond the typical agency offerings to better support their agents, clients, and industry partners.

To fill that void, InTouch Marketing (ITM) was created and established in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Their subsidiary provides turnkey solutions revolving around the core concepts of growth, retention, and accountability while assisting their business partners in improving Hedis and Star Ratings specializing in Annual Wellness Visit appointments and Gap Closures.

ITM has expanded nationally providing Customer Service and support for agent/agency partners, Medical Groups, Health Care Organizations, and their members.

Today, Team Alvarez currently serves Medicare Beneficiaries in California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Oregon, Alabama, Florida and an additional 35 states with the ability to conduct business across the country through their National Telephonic Enrollment Center.

Team Alvarez specializes in a multi-cultural agent roster with several hundred agents to cater to an equally diverse client base.

Team Alvarez serves beneficiaries nationally.

Additionally, the President, Vice-President, Compliance Officer, Broker Relations Representative, Recruiting Director, and Operations Manager of the company are licensed, full-time insurance agents continuing to work in the field.

Team Alvarez Insurance Services understands clearly what an agent/producer wants and needs to be successful in building their book of business.

Team Alvarez represents a multitude of national, highly rated Individual/Group Health, Life, Supplemental and Medicare Advantage Health Plans such as Anthem, Aetna, United Healthcare, Blue Shield, Central Health, Easy Choice, Humana, Scan, SilverScript,  Stanford, Wellcare, North America, Transamerica, American General, and many more.

As part of their national expansion, Team Alvarez is positioned to expand nationally and is currently licensed in multiple states.
